Date: Wednesday, July 18
Klondyke Kapers is more than a look back to the Klondike Gold Rush of the 1890s, an event which sparked Edmonton’s first economic boom. Vinok also examines the cultural impact of the period in which prospectors and other opportunists from all over the world ventured to Edmonton, which became a major supply link to the Yukon, where gold was discovered. Songs and dances reflective of the times will be performed by Vinok’s dancers and band, complete with a kickline of chorus girls in elaborate costumes and musicians playing traditional instruments. An outdoor gourmet barbecue in Chateau Louis’s palatial courtyard will add to the event’s rustic charm.
