General Motors has recalled about 1.5 million vehicles worldwide, including about 100,000 in Canada, to address a problem with a heated windshield wiper fluid system that could lead to a fire.
The affected vehicles encompass cars, trucks and crossovers from the 2006 to 2009 model years. So far, no injuries have been linked to the defect.
GM tried to fix the problem in 2008, but then came across new reports of fires in vehicles that had been fixed. The automaker will remove the heated fluid system from affected vehicles and rebate owners $100 for their troubles.

• 2008-09 Buick Enclave
• 2006-09 Cadillac DTS
• 2007-09 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT
• 2008-09 Cadillac CTS
• 2007-09 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
• 2009 Chevrolet Traverse
• 2007-09 GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
• 2006-09 Hummer H2
• 2007-09 Saturn Outlook
